8 ways for men to supercharge their fertility

The very thought of you being infertile can be terrifying, especially for those who have always wished-for children. Fortunately, about 65 percent of those who get treatment for infertility go on to conceive – so don’t lose hope.

Yes, it is quite certain that the sign of infertility is the inability to have a baby, but there are other signs too which you should consider. Male infertility can include problems with sexual role, pain and/or swelling in the testicle area, abnormal sperm count, decreased facial or body hair, and abnormal breast growth.

The production of sperm is satisfying when you have the healthy weight. Over the years it is seen that men who are suffering from obesity have reduced sperm count. The reason is when you carry extra weight, the fat cells increases which produce oestrogen, this causes a hormonal imbalance that can disrupt normal sperm production. But remember weight loss supplements are not prescribed.

Tobacco, alcohol and even caffeine has always been linked with reduced sperm count. Toxins damage the sperm. For those who are trying to become the father, it is strongly recommended to reject tobacco and consume not more than two hard drinks per day. A typical cup of coffee contains about 100mg of caffeine, and a soda typically has about 50 mg. And any amount near to 300mg of caffeine will not help.

It is impossible to escape the heat in Chennai. But you can avoid hot baths or saunas. Hot water increases the temperature in the scrotum leading to flawed sperm production. It’s also best to avoid using laptop computers on your lap. Overexposure to high temperatures can take roughly three months to regulate healthy sperm production.

Lubricants are great when having intercourse, but many lubricants – including saliva and olive oil are lethal to sperm. In case you need to use one, try the ones that are less toxic like mineral oil and canola oil that too only as much as required.

Many time we don’t even realize that we are consuming testosterone substances. They may be protein shakes for bodybuilding, or over the counter items. These products communicate signals to the testicles that there is enough testosterone in the body and so the brain stops sending the signals to make sperm. The damage done is treatable, but as I said can take three months or longer. Suppose that you are taking doctor-prescribed testosterone, consult with your doctor before you discontinue it.

A lot of people who work in the factories were easily exposed to toxic air and had abnormal sperm production. But in today's world, it is impossible to avoid it, my advice is to try to avoid toxins and chemicals when and where ever possible and avoid paint fumes.

You read that right! usually, most exercise is sperm-friendly. Some intense activities such as hot yoga or bicycle riding can increase the temperature in the scrotum, which can affect sperm production.

It is recommended to have sex every one or two days around the time of ovulation. Ovulation typically occurs 11-21 days after the first day of the menstrual period.

Take pomegranate juice

Pomegranate prevents cancer and is great for the heart, and also fertility! It surges testosterone and develops sperm quality. Remember, if you experiencing testicular pain, abnormal discharge from the penis, swelling in the scrotum, or small testicles, it is high time to seek medical expertise.
